2013 October News

We are so blessed here at Ames to have people like Jim Wilson, Tony Mocny and Doug Hasse who constructed a ramp at my in-laws’ home so that Chad can start working in our family business with Scott and Aveary. They also added steps to the existing ramp at our home. What a blessing it truly is for our family. Thank you wonderful men of God so much and please know we do appreciate your time and effort! May God bless you as you have all been a blessing to us. You will never know how much we appreciate it!

Do you want to know what to do with your change you have been putting in your cup? Bring it to church in a secure baggie marked missions on Sunday, No-vember 10th. The special mission offering will go to Michael and Angela Kelly who are missionaries in Arizona working with Native American Indians. Ames church is the first church that Michael remembers going to as a child. His dad, Eldred Kelley was our as-sociate pastor.

The Local Missions Team is an arm of the Outreach Ministries at Ames and meets about six times a year to plan events for outreach to the local community. We man the Welcome Center in the church lobby, plan the yearly July Neighborhood Festival, organize the Christmas Giving Tree (donating gifts to area needy families), plan a community Thanksgiving Dinner, sponsor the community garden and the an-nual CROP Walk, maintain the monthly food collection for the food pantry at First Presbyterian Church, have a “Backpacks for Kids” ministry and have liaisons to the Ames Boy Scout troop and the Saginaw County Jail. This is a dynamic, active group and we always welcome new members. You may join us for the entire year, or join for specific projects. Please come to our next meeting October 1 at 6:30 pm in the parlor or call Cathy Campbell (792-6725) for more information.
