  • Photo_mission3 Glasses for missions - Thank you very much to all who have given their used glasses through our missions program. We recently mailed 65 pair of glasses to MOST ministries who sent them all over the world and fit them to people who need that prescription strength. Right now, Most Ministries are in need of sunglasses. It also helps if you have glass cases you are not using. The cases protect the glasses when we mail them.   • 2013 October News Angels among us - We are so blessed here at Ames to have people like Jim Wilson, Tony Mocny and Doug Hasse who constructed a ramp at my in-laws’ home so that Chad can start working in our family business with Scott and Aveary.   • MissionWebFormImage(1) Active local service - The Local Missions Team is an arm of the Outreach Ministries at Ames and meets about six times a year to plan events for outreach to the local community. We man the Welcome Center in the church lobby, plan the yearly July Neighborhood Festival, organize the Christmas Giving Tree (donating gifts to area needy families), plan a community Thanksgiving Dinner, sponsor the community garden and the an-nual CROP Walk, maintain the monthly food collection for the food pantry at First Presbyterian Church, have a “Backpacks for Kids” ministry and have liaisons to the Ames Boy Scout troop and the Saginaw County Jail. This is a dynamic, active group and we always welcome new members. You may join us for the entire year, or join for specific projects.
