Wednesday, March 5
4:30 p.m. – traditional music
6 p.m. – worship band
Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the season of Lent. Lent is a time when many Christians prepare for Easter by observing a period of fasting, repentance, moderation and spiritual discipline. We invite you to our Ash Wednesday services on March 5. Come as a declaration of your commitment in using whichever spiritual discipline you have chosen for lent. During the service Pastor Mark will offer ashes placed on the forehead in the shape of a cross for those who wish to participate in this outward sign of our sorrow and repentance for our sins. Notice: Even this sign of sinfulness hints at the good news yet to come through its shape — a cross. Ash Wednesday is not a dour, depressing holy day, because it symbolically anticipates Good Friday and Easter Sunday.
